Julius Stahl
Julius Stahl´s works take resonant objects as their point of origin. The objects are made of wire, aluminum or even light and are set into motion by pure tones. They are composed of simple geometric elements. Setting them into resonance by tones expands their basic forms and gives the objects a level of time. The series of sculptural objects are extended by works on paper. Phenomena that appear within the resonant objects are captured in photograms and luminograms.
They show shapes of light and sound as graphic notations. Born 1978, Julius Stahl studied at the Technical University and University of the Arts Berlin. His work has been shown at venues such as the Museum for Concrete Art Ingolstadt, Museum for Modern Art Bremen, Center for International Light Art Museum Unna, ZKM Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, Sculpture Museum Marl, Museum Dortmunder U, Museum Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern, as well as festivals like Donaueschinger Musiktage, Ars Electronica Linz, Transmediale Berlin, Festspielhaus Hellerau, Hellweg Konkret and institutions and galleries in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and the Netherlands.
